Lube Oils according to DQC Classification (DEUTZ Quality Class)
Whether a lube oil is suitable for use in DEUTZ engines is determined by the appropriate DEUTZ Quality Class:
- DQC I -02 Minimum quality for standard engines, in some cases with reduced oil change intervals
- DQC II -05 Standard quality for standard engines
- DQC III -05 High-quality (high thermal stability) for engines with a closed crankcase return system and for high-performance engines
- DQC IV-05 Ultra High-performance engine diesel oil for engines with highest level of output with closed crankcase ventilation
DEUTZ AG has established a new release procedure for lube oil quality according to DQC. This includes a comprehensive list of individual requirements, for which the lube oil producers have to demonstrate compliance before corresponding release is issued. In the near future information such as DQC III-05 will be found in lube oil sales literature and datasheets, thereby facilitating the selection of lube oils for the engine operators.
The new release procedure has become necessary because engines with increasingly reduced emissions (Euro IV, Tier 3) and ever-increasing performance power outputs also make ever-increasing demands on the lube oil. Highly supercharged engines with closed crankcase ventilation can only be operated with lube oils with the highest oxidation stability, as otherwise the oil droplets contained in the recirculated combustion gases result in irreversible coking in the hot turbocharger. Also the tendency towards longer oil change intervals can only be accomplished with oils of a higher quality. However, the demand for particularly high lube oil qualities is kept to the lowest possible level in order to minimise the costs for the engine operator.
Applications for DQC Releases:
The links on this page provide the lube oil producers with the opportunity to download the DEUTZ AG company standard for DQC releases together with the appendices (limit values and application forms). In the company standard the formalities of the release procedure are also described.
